On Saturday we took a bus trip out of town and saw a little countryside. We saw an ancient church in Rochester, which was built by the Normans: here's the quire--you can see the choir through the opening in the center. They were practicing for an Advent concert while we were there.

Jason, David and Andrew fascinated by our tour guide's description of Restoration House in Rochester. Where something happened during the Restoration. Of the monarchy. Not the house.

The next stop was Leeds Castle, southeast of London, heading towards the coast. This is the main building and its moat, apparently deep enough that it couldn't be tunneled under. Not that we tried.

They really look like they belong here, so we'll call this David and Jason's country house. In fact it's part of the little enclave of servant's housing set away from the castle itself, which was bought and restored by an American heiress in the 1940s.

Is this not the total Album Cover Shot? (We were completely baffled by this maze; in the end Andrew snuck in through the exit and helped us find our way through by directing us from the platform in the center. What a bunch of losers...)

We had a quick stop in Dover, enough to take a few shots of the water like dutiful tourists.

...And finally we ended up in Canterbury.

It's hard to fit it into a photo because the building is just huge. Even if the composition is lacking, the lighting is nice at night.
