A collaborative guide to Berlin.
Potsdamer Platz is an architectural and urban planning nightmare. The good thing is that it has two movie complexes that show films in their original version, so you need never miss another installment of the Lord of the Rings or Harry Potter. They have matinee showings, which will save a few bucks, but will sock you with an extra €1.50 (in the Fall of 2002) for an “extra-long” film. For German films and for older and weirder movies, try the independent cinemas. Filmkunsthaus Babylon at Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz is a great space. Arsenal in the Sony Center Building shows well-curated series of both old and new, German and international cinema.
