Blogo
Matt wrote about a month ago an entry on trying to recapture the thrill felt years ago when tinkering with early computers and programming languages like BASIC or LOGO. Finding a way to capture, explain, and make use of this attitude towards computers (as opposed to the "put a new game CD in the X-Box" or "use Word to type with, Explorer to browse with" attitude), might go some ways towards encouraging people to protect the freedoms (to tinker, mess around, hack, etc.) that go along with that.
At the end of his entry, he asks: "What about harnessing these behaviour trends [rip, mix, burn + blogging, linking, communicating] with a next generation language, allowing people to combine communication, media and automation in unlimited ways, but that easy to get into and understand like Basic or Logo... BLog-O?"
I love the idea of "BLog-O." A connection between the structured content of blog entries (or other content) plus some sort of rule-scripting language would be a great thing. I'd like to see the DBN of blogs.
