SXSW day 3
Things picked up a lot on day SXSW day 3 for me. All the panels I saw were at least pretty good, and the two CSS panels with Bowman, Shea, and the rest were excellent. And a great, fun, conversational evening with Adam and Nurri that more than made up for cold fish tacos the other night.
What is it with the compulsive multitasking in the audience, though? I've seen people: learning Perl, carrying on nine IM sessions, setting their browser preferences (literally setting them again and again for an hour), and just reading reading reading blogs and feeds and news. During really interesting presentations. Can't you kill time online later?

Man, I feel I am really missing out by not attending SXSW. As for needlessly multi-tasking, I think it is a symptom of media-induced ADD. We get so used to having to multi-task, we can't help but multi-task even when it isn't called for. A good post on information overload - http://www.dailykos.com/story/2004/2/19/202330/797.
