Japanese Anti(?)-Smoking Posters
From the endlessly wonderful weblog of Momus, this post on the etiquette of public information display, which includes some odd anti-smoking posters from Japan.
At first, you might think just that the English is a litte odd, but these messages seem quite subtle. They manage both shame smokers for their thoughtlessness and remind them how cool smoking is: "When I bumped into someone, I apologized. When my smoke hit your face, I said nothing." "The cool cowboy flicks his cigarette butt into the street. But he lives in an old movie." The information design illustrating these little koans is also quite elegant.
