So much geekliness
In the last few days:
- Upgraded to a mySQL database for MovableType (so easy, why didn’t I do this ages ago?)
- Started using the Textile plugin.
- Installed Instiki, which is great.
- Spent lots of time at the command line to figure out why Instiki wasn’t working properly.1
- Checked The Confusion out of the library. Do I really have the time for this monster?
- Spent a lot of my spare time stressing about Design Engaged as people’s registration money starts actually coming in.
This was supposed to be a holiday weekend?
1 Hours and hours, to be honest. The standalone Instiki “application for OS X”http://rubyforge.org/frs/?group_id=186 (the .dmg on that page) simply would not work. So I tried the next best thing: downloading the Ruby binaries for OSX and installing that, then figuring out how to put that installation in my path (i.e. setting environment variables in the terminal), then downloading Instiki as a bunch of files, then starting it. Then dealing with the bug (described here as “Storage Directory”) before finally getting it to work. UPDATE: have gone back to the command line version, as the packaged version just won’t stay working. Sigh.

Forgot: I also got webDAV space with my web host, so I can publish nifty iCal calendars.
