Gathering threads

It makes me really happy to read Fabio’s thoughts about Design Engaged. He picks up threads of ideas that were floating around (organic interaction design, product-platforms based on users’ behaviors, generative rules) and connects them (kindly) to the structure of the conference itself. This was something I was just dimly aware of through the various logistical distractions of coffee and presentation timing, but which in retrospect is a really lovely resonance.

Fabio writes about “just enough structure” to let people play and the design of Calvino’s lightness. “…simply an excuse to get grown-up kids to play with bits, where the word “play” is used here devoid of its purely ludic connotations? Back to the starting point: designing engagement….just enough structure to enable growth.”
