Dreams of better glue

A post at 43Folders today called “Snapshots of a Dream Productivity App” is in fact much more than that. Look at what Merlin’s asking for: “hooks and more hooks (from application to application)”, “tags”, “IMAP-like (i.e. efforless) syncing”, and “syndicated everything”. The first commenter got it right: “you’re not asking for an application, you’re asking for better glue.” “Glue” between things is gonna be the thing this year, I think. Gluing my subscribed RSS feeds to things, piping Flickr photos by my friends somewhere, my Basecamp project to here and there, etc.

See also what Chris wrote about wanting “better glue” between his physical hardware and emerging ubicomp services.

This is a terrific point you make (and thanks for that great link).
