Locket and bespoke Widgets
Stephan, who made the infamous zaptastic widget has just released what I think is the lovliest widget yet: Locket, which he describes as “a custom iChat widget.” It appears in the Dashboard as a metal locket, which opens to reveal a picture of a loved one when that person is online in iChat. For $10, Stephan will assemble a Locket for you with the picture you provide, a nice way to get around the compromises he’d have to make to accomodate the tiny iChat status icon that’s otherwise available.
I’d love to see Dashboards become our own curiousity cabinets full of the weird and idiosyncratic. I’ll take myths, gems, relics, and tiny animals under glass over RSS reader widgets any day.
