Last.fm stumbles
Is it just me or is Last.fm sort of jacked up right now? I left iTunes running all weekend to get some more data in there, yet my charts are alternately empty or contain just a couple of artists. Ok, I’m sure some Clap Your Hands Say Yeah! was played, but who in the world is this artist “apm”, with catchy numbers like “we keep prices low through your donations” or “and coal”?
Incidentally, is anyone else at music-reccomendation saturation these days? How many more new services like Pandora are really useful? I hear more new music now than at any time in my life, including college, through great radio stations, podcast upon podcast, last.fm, people-who-bought-also-bought links everywhere. And I’m no more likely to find out about something new that I like from one source than another; an automatically linked neighbor in last.fm is about as likely to lead me to something new as is turning on KEXP for an hour.
