User interface design, distilled to its purest form

I received this koan-like user interface requirement from a product manager today. I present it in its entirety. It is complete unto itself, evocative. It is a refined, yet infinitely vague. I can no more answer it than not answer it.

"With the three control buttons
for the instructor,
we missed one use case.
We need a fourth button."

this is one of my favorite sorts of communications from a project manager. i love how, in the world of the PM, ‘use case’ = ‘button.’ corollaries include feature = button and marketing requirement = button.
